Prof. David Reich
David L. Reich, M.D. arrived at Mount Sinai in 1984 and completed a residency in anesthesiology and a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesia in 1987. He served as the Chair of Anesthesiology from 2004 to 2014 and was named President and COO of The Mount Sinai Hospital in 2013. Dr. Reich’s research interests include neurocognitive outcome following cardiac and aortic surgery, outcome effects of intraoperative hemodynamics, medical informatics, and hemodynamic monitoring. He has published 130 peer-reviewed articles, 30 invited articles or editorials, and 37 book chapters. He is associate editor of the leading subspecialty textbook Cardiac Anesthesia and lead editor of Monitoring in Anesthesia and Perioperative Care. He is co-editor of the first editions of Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography and of Neuroprotection in Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine. Dr. Reich serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia. At Mount Sinai, he served on numerous hospital, school, and health system committees, and was President of the Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Board in 2011-2012. He is one of the course directors of Law and Business of Medicine for the medical school. Dr. Reich is the executive sponsor of the Mount Sinai Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery. He was named the Horace W. Goldsmith Professor of Anesthesiology in 2004 and received the Jacobi Medallion in 2014.
